As part of Glasgow International, The Hunterian presented Still Moving, a retrospective of the work of German artist Ulrike Ottinger. Mobilisations was an associated programme of events taking Still Moving as its point of departure. Through three workshops and a commission organized by students in the MLitt Curatorial Practice cohort; Lydia Honeybone, Joshua Speer, Xiaolian Lan, and Christiana Myers, Mobilisations offered insights into key themes in Ottinger’s practice.

Mobilisation 1: Queer Bodies in the Landscape

A day-long workshop led by artist Andrew Black that looked at contemporary and historical representations of queer people in artists films.

Mobilisation 3: a journey with artist Anthony Schrag

'RiverCity: the way is the reason' was a walking tour led by artist Anthony Shrag. The journey offers a unique opportunity to re-discover how waterways made Glasgow an important city both in the medieval and industrial periods.

Mobilisation 2: Carnival of Objects

Carnival of Objects, organized by Christiana Myers, was a study day in the Hunterian teaching labs at Kelvin Hall that highlighted an array of objects from the museum’s collections relating to the motifs of carnival, costume, and fantasy common in the work of German filmmaker, Ukrike Ottinger. Speakers from a variety of art-based backgrounds discussed the selected objects, offering diverse and unconventional approaches to the study of art and artefacts.
